Peritoneal Mesothelioma
Peritoneal Mesothelioma

Peritoneal Mesothelioma is the name given to the cancer that attacks the abdomen lining.  This  cancer is also caused by exposure to asbestos, and  affects the lining that protects the contents of the abdomen.

Peritoneal Mesotheliomalioma disease is  referred to as diffuse peritoneal mesothelioma.  This Cancer tends to be spread out. It is accountable for around ten to fifeteen percent of all mesothelioma cases.  It is the second most common (after Pleural Mesothelioma).

There are several symptoms for this disease. Like  other types of mesothelioma, there is a long period of dormancy, and the symptoms may not become apparent for years.  As the  symptoms begin to arise it is often too late to offer any real effective treatment. And further delay is often caused by the fact that the symptoms are  non-specific.  And once they are addressed they can be attributed to a number of more common ailments. Unless your doctor is aware that you have been exposed to asbestos in the past, he or she is likely to look at other treatments which will have little or no effect on Mesothelioma. It  is therefore imperative to let your doctor know of any exposure to asbestos.

The symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma include: abdominal pains and weakness; fast weight loss; some nausea; loss off appetite; some abdominal swelling; added bowel obstruction. And depending on the location of the tumor, problems can include breathing problems and severe pains.

Treatment for peritoneal mesothelioma can also vary, and is dependant upon a several factors.
